John Cline is a retired Cleveland Police officer, U.S. Navy Seabee veteran, investigator, author, husband, father, and grandfather. His career of service spans more than three decades, including 27 years with the Cleveland Police Department, where he excelled in narcotics, gang investigations, major investigations, hostage negotiations, and federal task force assignments.
Before entering law enforcement, John dedicated 6½ years on active duty in the United States Navy as a Seabee Equipment Operator, deploying overseas to support military operations and construction missions. The lessons learned through military service, law enforcement, and life experiences have profoundly shaped the perspective found throughout his writing.
John is the author of The Gray Haze, a memoir that delves into themes of service, sacrifice, brotherhood, resilience, and the often-unseen challenges faced by those who commit their lives to protecting others. Through his writing, he aims to preserve stories, honor those who served alongside him, and provide encouragement to anyone navigating life’s challenging seasons.
